Rev Dr. Felix Raj inducted to the Global Management Accounting Hall of Fame

Rev Dr. Felix Raj, S.J.  is the Vice Chancellor and a Professor of Economics at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata. He is currently the vice-president of Bengal Economic Association. His specialisations include development economics, liberalisation, privatisation, globalisation, public sector, disinvestment, spirituality, leadership skills and training. He is the director of The Goethals Indian Library and Research Society. He is an economist, educationist, administrator, author, and philanthropist associated with many NGOs.

Dr. Raj’s dream of setting up of a Jesuit University became a reality when the SXUK Act 2016 was unanimously passed in the West Bengal Assembly in January 2017. He was appointed the first Vice-Chancellor of the University in February 2017. His initiative, “College to Village and Village to College” has transformed St Xavier’s College Kolkata into an internationally renowned University.

Rev Dr. Felix Raj, S.J., has has authored nine (9) books and has written numerous articles in journals, magazine and newspapers, including Contemporary Development Economics from Adam Smith to Amartya Sen; Indian Economy – Economic Ideas, Development and Financial Reforms and Emerging Issues on Inclusive Growth, Business and Environment. He has presented papers in many national and international conferences. He has lectured in universities in Europe, the US, and Canada, besides India.

Rev Dr. John Felix Raj graduated in Economics from Loyola College, Chennai and obtained a Masters in Economics from St. Joseph’s College, Trichy He received Ph.D. degree in Economics from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He completed his Philosophy studies from Jnana-Deepa Vidyapeeth (JDV), Pune.  Rev Dr. John Felix Raj is fluent in Tamil, Bengali, Hindi and English. He was appointed a member of the West Bengal Education Commission by the Governor of West Bengal to prepare a Road Map/Vision Document for 2020 and 2030 for the state’s education sector since 1 October 2013. He has won many awards including Educationist of the year 2019 and Mother Theresa Ratna in 2019.
